CONSTRUCTION OF CLINICS
1. Mariannhill Clinic, Pinetown, Durban, South Africa idm-mariannhill-clinic-and-school
The Mariannhill Medical Clinic initially commenced in 1977 by Dr. Ebrahim Dada and Dr. Yusuf Osman. Initially the clinic was conducted once a week on Saturday mornings. As the need grew, it was extended to Wednesday mornings as well. Several other General Practitioners were encouraged to volunteer their services. They decided to take the task upon themselves to provide the much needed medical services in the area.
The patient numbers grew in volume. Sister organisation IMA at that time, created a clinical committee. Therefore, in the name of rationalisation, IDM requested the clinical Committee of IMA to continue administrating the clinic, whilst IDM could continue and concentrate on the dawah activities in the area.
IDM took upon itself the initiative again by commissioning the planning of a modern clinic, raised half a million rands, encouraging IMA and others to also contribute, and thereby built a modern clinic in 2003.
Alhamdullillah, the clinic is functioning well and efficiently, and is a blessing and asset to the local community, who are grateful to IDM, IMA and all those who made this service possible.
2. Bangwe Clinic in Blantyre, Malawi
IDM was able to construct the Maternity wing of the Bangwe clinic in Blantyre which was completed in September 2010. The original clinic in Bangwe was built by the Madina Social Services.
Blantyre is the second largest city in Malawi with an estimated one million inhabitants as of 2012. Malawi has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. It is with this in mind that IDM undertook the task of providing the medical assistance which was much needed in Bangwe.
3. MaBheleni Sub-Clinic in KwaZulu Natal
EmaBheleni residents and community leaders applauded the Islamic Dawah Movement of Southern Africa (IDM) for its commitment to improving health services in the area. This took place when the organization unveiled a community sub-clinic that it erected in one of its centres within the Umzumbe Municipality jurisdiction. The Islamic Dawah Moment of Southern Africa (IDM) together with the Iqraa Trust joined hands together on this project.
A lot of people in this area had no means of transport to visit the clinic; this sub-clinic is helping them to gain easy access to medical attention Alhamdulillah. The sub-clinic was officially opened on the, 10th of August 2017; and will be managed by the KwaZulu Natal department of health.
