The Qur’an is the ultimate source of guidance, mercy, and transformation. For countless individuals across our communities, access to the Qur’an in a language they understand is life-changing. It strengthens faith, nurtures understanding, and connects people directly to the words of Allah.

Across Southern Africa and beyond, there is a growing and urgent need for translated copies of the Noble Qur’an. Many homes, madrassahs, and new Muslims still do not have access to a Qur’an they can read, understand, and reflect upon in their own mother tongue.

Alhamdulillah, the Islamic Dawah Movement has already translated the Noble Qur’an into nine major languages, making it accessible to diverse communities. These translations are available in:

• Afrikaans

• Xhosa

• Zulu

• Sotho

• Setswana

• Chichewa

• Yao

• Portuguese

• Runyankore (Uganda)

These translations are changing lives by making the message of Islam clear, accessible, and meaningful to those who were previously unable to engage deeply with the Qur’an.

This Ramadan, as the Month of Qur’an, the Islamic Dawah Movement plans to print 5,000 additional copies per language, ensuring that no home, no madrassah, and no new Muslim is left without a Qur’an they can understand and connect with. All sponsored Qur’ans are distributed free of charge to those in need.

The Reward of Sponsoring the Qur’an

Sponsoring the Qur’an is a form of sadaqah jariyah. Every letter recited, every verse understood, and every act of worship inspired by a donated Qur’an becomes a source of ongoing reward for the donor, by the will of Allah.

These translated Qur’ans support new Muslims, strengthen existing communities, and play a vital role in da‘wah and Islamic education.

Feed the Fasting – Share the Blessings of Ramadan

Ramadan is a month of mercy, generosity, and compassion. It is a time when feeding a fasting person becomes a means of immense reward and barakah. Through the Ramadaan Iftaar Saa’im Programme, the Islamic Dawah Movement of Southern Africa continues its long-standing commitment to supporting fasting individuals and struggling families during the blessed month.

For over 20 years, this programme has been implemented across more than 50 townships and masjids, ensuring that no fasting person is left hungry at the time of iftaar. Alhamdulillah, this initiative has touched thousands of lives, providing dignity, nourishment, and relief to those in need.

The Messenger of Allah ï·º said:

“The Prophet ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he was most generous during Ramadan.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

To keep the school functioning effectively, a total of R30,000 per month is required to cover essential expenses, including electricity, water and sanitation, cleaning and hygiene supplies, school maintenance and minor repairs, learning support materials, printing and administration, security and safety costs, and staff salaries.

This project is Zakaah-eligible. The Messenger of Allah ï·º said:

“Islam is built upon five: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving Zakaah, performing Hajj, and fasting Ramadan.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
