Ramadan is a month of mercy, kindness, and giving. Feeding a fasting person brings great reward and blessings.
Through the Ramadan Iftaar Saa'im Programme, the Islamic Dawah Movement of Southern Africa (IDM) supports fasting people and struggling families during the blessed month.
For over 20 years, this programme has been running in more than 50 townships and masjids. Alhamdulillah, it has helped thousands of people by making sure no one breaks their fast hungry.
The Messenger of Allah said: "The Prophet was the most generous of people, and he was most generous during Ramadan." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
Areas and Communities Served
The programme runs in many areas, including:

ZAKAT Calculation
Simplifying your Zakat calculation
Calculating your Zakat isn't as difficult as you may think. We find that breaking your assets down into different categories makes the Zakat calculation process really simple.
We have broken down the calculation process into Zakatable assets (gold, silver, cash, savings, business assets etc.) and Deductible liabilities (money you owe, other outgoings due) so you can calculate the Zakat you owe easily.
The amount of Zakat you need to pay will be determined once you have calculated the value of your net assets. You then need to see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed the threshold.
Why Choose Us?
We understand your Zakat is not just a donation, it is an act of worship ordered upon us by Allah (swt) to help ease the suffering of less fortunate men, women, and children around the world. By trusting us with your Zakat, you will not only be fulfilling your religious obligation, but you will also be helping tackle poverty and saving lives around the world
Nearly all our projects are Zakat-eligible. From building water wells in remote villages to giving widows the tools they need to feed their families, from providing urgent humanitarian relief in refugee camps to sponsoring disadvantaged or we are committed to delivering your Zakat to those who are eligible and need it the most
South Beach Masjid Renovation – Support the Masjid & Community Centre
Rebuild South Beach Masjid & Islamic Community Centre
A House of Worship. A Home for the Community. Target: R150,000
A Once Vibrant Masjid, Now in Urgent Need of Reconstruction
For over three decades, the South Beach Masjid & Islamic Community Centre stood as a pillar of faith and togetherness in the heart of Durban's South Beach area. It was a place where sailors stopped to pray, workers found peace after long days, and children's voices echoed as they learned the words of Allah (SWT).
Today, those same walls tell a different story - cracks spread across the ceilings, the roof leaks, and the once-busy prayer hall now struggles to host daily salah.
What was once a thriving centre of worship and learning has become unsafe and nearly unusable.
The time has come to rebuild - not just a structure, but a sanctuary of faith.
A Vision to Restore Hope and Worship
The Islamic Dawah Movement (IDM) has launched an urgent appeal to reconstruct the South Beach Masjid & Islamic Community Centre - to restore it into a safe, beautiful, and welcoming space for prayer, learning, and community service.
This reconstruction will include:
A completely rebuilt main prayer hall
Madrasah classrooms for children
Ablution (wudhu) facilities for men and women
A revamped community area for gatherings and classes
Safe, durable roofing and flooring
When complete, this Masjid will once again echo with the adhan, shelter daily worshippers, and serve as a home for Islamic education and unity.
Why This Project Matters
Durban's South Beach is home to a diverse and growing Muslim population, as well as thousands of visitors who work, live, or pass through the city centre.
The Masjid serves:
Local residents and business workers
Travellers seeking a place to pray
Over 80 madrasah students
Community programs and youth halaqahs
Without reconstruction, this important centre risks closing its doors entirely.
With your support, it can continue to serve hundreds of worshippers and learners every single week.
A Call from the Community
"This Masjid has been part of our lives for as long as we can remember.
We learnt here, prayed here, and raised our children here.
To see it deteriorate breaks our hearts - but we have hope, because the Ummah always rebuilds."
A Lasting Reward for You
"Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, seeking His pleasure, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
(Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)
Your donation to this project is not just charity - it is Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous reward that benefits you long after you leave this world.
Every brick, every prayer offered within, every child who learns the Quran here - all will bear witness to your contribution.
Be the Reason This Masjid Stands Again
The South Beach Masjid has served Durban's Muslim community for over 35 years.
Let's ensure it continues for another 35 and beyond.

Provide Daily Bread To Young Underpriviledged Learners
Across our IDM Islamic Centres, many students come to learn but often with empty stomachs.
Through this Bread Campaign, we aim to provide daily bread to students, ensuring they are nourished, focused, and able to benefit fully from their Islamic and academic education.
A simple loaf can make a powerful difference.
Why This Matters
1.Many students come from disadvantaged homes.
2.Some rely on the centre as their only consistent meal source.
3.Hunger affects concentration, learning, and well-being.
By feeding a student, you are supporting both their education and their dignity.
Your Impact
R200 Feeds multiple students with daily bread
R400 Sustains bread distribution across a centre
R1,000 Supports large groups of students

IDM ISLAMIC PRIVATE SCHOOL - MARIANHILL Sustaining Quality Islamic Education Through Your Charity
Location: Marianhill, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
The IDM Islamic Private School provides a safe and nurturing environment where academic excellence is combined with strong Islamic values. Many learners come from underprivileged backgrounds, and the school serves as a place of stability, guidance, and hope for the community.
Allah says: "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills." (Quran 2:261)
To sustain this work, the school requires R30,000 per month to cover essential costs including utilities, maintenance, learning materials, and staff salaries.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Charity does not decrease wealth." (Sahih Muslim)
This project is Zakaah-eligible. We accept Zakaah, Sadaqah, and Lillah.
