Umzumbe Masjid Refurbishment Appeal

Restore a Musjid that has served for over 25 years

Target: R200,000
Location: Umzumbe, KwaZulu-Natal
Organised by: Islamic Dawah Movement (IDM)

Help restore a house of Allah and preserve a centre of worship, learning, and community upliftment in Umzumbe.

A Musjid in the Rolling Hills of KwaZulu-Natal

For over 25 years, the Umzumbe Musjid has stood as a place of worship, learning, and community connection in the southern KwaZulu-Natal region.

Surrounded by the rolling hills of Umzumbe, this Musjid continues to serve the local Muslim community through daily salaah, Islamic learning, madrasah activities, and spiritual guidance.

Today, this beloved Musjid is in need of refurbishment so that it can continue serving worshippers, learners, and families in a safe, dignified, and welcoming environment.

Why This Project Matters

The Umzumbe Musjid is more than a building. It is a centre of Imaan, education, and community upliftment.

It serves local worshippers and families, madrasah learners, children learning the Qur’an and Islamic values, community members who depend on the Musjid for guidance and support, as well as travellers and visitors passing through the area.

After many years of service, the Musjid now requires refurbishment to preserve its structure and improve the facilities for the community.

With your support, this house of Allah can be restored and protected for years to come.

What Your Donation Will Support

Your contribution will help towards the refurbishment needs of Umzumbe Musjid, including essential repairs and improvements to the facility.

The project aims to create a safe, clean, and comfortable space for daily salaah, Jumu’ah, madrasah classes, Qur’an learning, Islamic education, and community programmes.

Every improvement will help ensure that the Musjid remains active, welcoming, and beneficial to the people of Umzumbe.

A Lasting Sadaqah Jariyah

The Messenger of Allah ï·º said:

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”

Sahih Bukhari & Muslim

Supporting the refurbishment of a Musjid is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah. Every salaah performed, every child who learns, every Qur’an recited, and every act of worship carried out in this Musjid can become a means of continuous reward.

Be Part of Restoring Umzumbe Musjid

This Musjid has served the community for over 25 years. Now it needs our support.

Help IDM refurbish Umzumbe Musjid and preserve a house of Allah in the beautiful hills of KwaZulu-Natal.

THE GIFT OF WATER - A SADAQAH JARIYAH THAT SAVES LIVES

For nearly 50 years, the Islamic Dawah Movement of Southern Africa (IDM) has been serving communities. Your support can provide clean water and become a lifeline for generations.

Zakat donations are 2.5% of our total savings and wealth; this also includes assets such as gold, silver, precious minerals, property other than your home, pensions, shares and other investments.

It's not always easy to figure out your exact Zakat, so ISLAMIC DAWAH MOVEMENT has made things easier for you with our Zakat calculato

100% Zakat Donations

WHAT IS ZAKAT?

Zakat is an annual charitable payment that is compulsory for Muslims. Your zakat will go on to benefit those who need it most and fir the criteria.

ZAKAT IS ONE OF THE FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM.

Your Zakat is a beautiful pillar of Islam that we will ensure goes to the most needy. This includes care for orphans and the elderly, providing food and water to those who lack these resources, delivering healthcare and education, or emergency aid to those struck by disaster.

100% ZAKAT POLICY is proud to have a 100% ZAKATpolicy meaning every single penny of your Zakat donation goes directly to those who need it most.

ZAKAT Calculation

Simplifying your Zakat calculation

Calculating your Zakat isn't as difficult as you may think. We find that breaking your assets down into different categories makes the Zakat calculation process really simple.

We have broken down the calculation process into Zakatable assets (gold, silver, cash, savings, business assets etc.) and Deductible liabilities (money you owe, other outgoings due) so you can calculate the Zakat you owe easily.

The amount of Zakat you need to pay will be determined once you have calculated the value of your net assets. You then need to see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed the threshold.

Across our IDM Islamic Centres, many students come to learn  but often with empty stomachs.

Through this Bread Campaign, we aim to provide daily bread to students, ensuring they are nourished, focused, and able to benefit fully from their Islamic and academic education.

A simple loaf can make a powerful difference.

 Why This Matters

1.Many students come from disadvantaged homes.

2.Some rely on the centre as their only consistent meal source.

3.Hunger affects concentration, learning, and well-being.

By feeding a student, you are supporting both their education and their dignity.

 Your Impact

R200 Feeds multiple students with daily bread

R400  Sustains bread distribution across a centre

R1,000  Supports large groups of students

Every contribution helps provide fresh bread daily at IDM centres.
