Sponsor a Masjid: Uplift and Expand the Mfazazana Islamic Centre â Sadaqah Jariyah Opportunity
Empowering Our Ummah, One Brick at a Time â Be a Part of Our Sadaqah Jariyah Legacy
The Mfazazana Masjid and Islamic Centre is not just a place of worship; it is the heartbeat of our Ummah, a sanctuary of knowledge, and a source of support for those in need throughout Southern Africa. As our Ummah continues to grow, we are embarking on a journey to uplift and enhance this beloved Baytullah (House of Allah), and we need your support in this noble cause.
Why Your Contribution is Crucial
Expanding Our Sacred Prayer Space
Our congregation is growing, and the current prayer space is becoming too small to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers. Your charitable giving will help us:
Renovate the roof to ensure the safety and comfort of our worshippers.
Upgrade the ablution facilities and plumbing for improved hygiene.
Improve electrical systems to ensure safety and modern functionality.
Replace carpets to enhance the aesthetic and comfort of our prayer area.
Create dedicated spaces for sisters, ensuring their privacy and comfort.
Install modern audio-visual systems for khutbahs and Dawah lectures.
Improve facilities for elderly and disabled worshippers to enhance accessibility.
2. Nurturing Minds Through Knowledge and Skills
Education is essential for a thriving Ummah. We are dedicated to empowering our community with both spiritual and practical knowledge. Your contributions will help us:
Build new classrooms for Qurâan classes, Islamic studies, and vocational training.
Expand our Maktabah (library) with classical and contemporary Islamic texts.
Develop a computer lab for digital learning and Islamic research.
3. Strengthening Our Brotherhood and Sisterhood
A mosque is not only a place for worship but also the heart of community life. By enhancing our community outreach, we can:
Offer professional counseling services for families and youth.
Support food bank programs to assist those in need.
Build a multipurpose hall for Nikahs, educational seminars, and community events.
("Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, even if it is as small as a bird's nest, Allah will build for them a house in Jannah.") (Sunan Ibn Majah 738)
By contributing to the Mfazazana Masjid project, you are not just constructing a building; you are securing your share of reward and ongoing charity, InshaAllah.
("The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day...") (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:18)
This verse highlights our honor and responsibility as believers to support and maintain Allahâs houses of worship.
An Inspiring Story
A beautiful story from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) illustrates the importance of spending on the masjid.
One day, a poor man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked for help. The Prophet, who always encouraged his companions to support the masjid, instructed this man to go to the masjid and say, "O Allah, I am Your servant, and I am in need." The man followed the Prophet's advice, and as he made his prayer, a wealthy person who was present in the masjid noticed him and was moved by his sincerity. This wealthy man approached him and offered assistance, fulfilling his needs.
This story reminds us that spending on the masjid not only benefits the physical structure but also creates an environment where individuals can turn to Allah for their needs. It reinforces the idea that when we invest in our masjid, we are contributing to a community that fosters faith, support, and connection.
Our Immediate Goal: R
To achieve our vision for uplifting the Mfazazana Masjid and Islamic Centre, we aim to raise R for essential repairs and improvements. Hereâs how your contributions will be utilized:
Renovation of Roof and Carpets: R for roof repairs and new carpets for the prayer area.
Ablution and Plumbing Upgrades: R for modernizing ablution facilities and plumbing.
Electrical Work: R for upgrading electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality.
Educational Resources: R for equipping classrooms and expanding our library.
Every contribution counts. Your generosity will impact the lives of hundreds of worshippers, students, and families.

Friend of the Masjid (Any amount): Your support will earn you the community's prayers and the reward of Sadaqah Jariyah, InshaAllah.

ZAKAT Calculation
Simplifying your Zakat calculation
Calculating your Zakat isn't as difficult as you may think. We find that breaking your assets down into different categories makes the Zakat calculation process really simple.
We have broken down the calculation process into Zakatable assets (gold, silver, cash, savings, business assets etc.) and Deductible liabilities (money you owe, other outgoings due) so you can calculate the Zakat you owe easily.
The amount of Zakat you need to pay will be determined once you have calculated the value of your net assets. You then need to see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed the threshold.
Why Choose Us?
We understand your Zakat is not just a donation, it is an act of worship ordered upon us by Allah (swt) to help ease the suffering of less fortunate men, women, and children around the world. By trusting us with your Zakat, you will not only be fulfilling your religious obligation, but you will also be helping tackle poverty and saving lives around the world
Nearly all our projects are Zakat-eligible. From building water wells in remote villages to giving widows the tools they need to feed their families, from providing urgent humanitarian relief in refugee camps to sponsoring disadvantaged or we are committed to delivering your Zakat to those who are eligible and need it the most
South Beach Masjid Renovation – Support the Masjid & Community Centre
Rebuild South Beach Masjid & Islamic Community Centre
A House of Worship. A Home for the Community. Target: R150,000
A Once Vibrant Masjid, Now in Urgent Need of Reconstruction
For over three decades, the South Beach Masjid & Islamic Community Centre stood as a pillar of faith and togetherness in the heart of Durban's South Beach area. It was a place where sailors stopped to pray, workers found peace after long days, and children's voices echoed as they learned the words of Allah (SWT).
Today, those same walls tell a different story - cracks spread across the ceilings, the roof leaks, and the once-busy prayer hall now struggles to host daily salah.
What was once a thriving centre of worship and learning has become unsafe and nearly unusable.
The time has come to rebuild - not just a structure, but a sanctuary of faith.
A Vision to Restore Hope and Worship
The Islamic Dawah Movement (IDM) has launched an urgent appeal to reconstruct the South Beach Masjid & Islamic Community Centre - to restore it into a safe, beautiful, and welcoming space for prayer, learning, and community service.
This reconstruction will include:
A completely rebuilt main prayer hall
Madrasah classrooms for children
Ablution (wudhu) facilities for men and women
A revamped community area for gatherings and classes
Safe, durable roofing and flooring
When complete, this Masjid will once again echo with the adhan, shelter daily worshippers, and serve as a home for Islamic education and unity.
Why This Project Matters
Durban's South Beach is home to a diverse and growing Muslim population, as well as thousands of visitors who work, live, or pass through the city centre.
The Masjid serves:
Local residents and business workers
Travellers seeking a place to pray
Over 80 madrasah students
Community programs and youth halaqahs
Without reconstruction, this important centre risks closing its doors entirely.
With your support, it can continue to serve hundreds of worshippers and learners every single week.
A Call from the Community
"This Masjid has been part of our lives for as long as we can remember.
We learnt here, prayed here, and raised our children here.
To see it deteriorate breaks our hearts - but we have hope, because the Ummah always rebuilds."
A Lasting Reward for You
"Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, seeking His pleasure, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
(Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)
Your donation to this project is not just charity - it is Sadaqah Jariyah, a continuous reward that benefits you long after you leave this world.
Every brick, every prayer offered within, every child who learns the Quran here - all will bear witness to your contribution.
Be the Reason This Masjid Stands Again
The South Beach Masjid has served Durban's Muslim community for over 35 years.
Let's ensure it continues for another 35 and beyond.

Provide Daily Bread To Young Underpriviledged Learners
