Executive Summary

  1. IDM conducted a successful Udhiya/ Qurbani programme amongst disadvantaged communities in Southern Africa. 
  1. 23 Areas were covered in this region. 
  1. 83 animals were purchased and sacrificed 
  1. There were more than 1200 beneficiaries 
  1. The average cost of sheep/goat in:     Rands

            1          South Africa                 2,000.00     

            2          Southern Africa           1,000.00

  1. All our Udhiya Programmes are conducted amongst disadvantaged communities. 
  1. The Udhiya Progamme has tremendous dawah implications. During the programme, the people of the local community gather at the centre (Muslims and Non Muslims) to enjoy a   meal and listen to a lecture on the significance of the programme. During the course of this      social interaction, the Non Muslims are given an insight into the Islamic way of life and       value system.

  1. 1. INTRODUCTION 

The Islamic Dawah Movement of Southern Africa (IDM), conducted its annual Udhiya/Qurbani Programme amongst disadvantaged communities in South and Southern Africa, through its network of Masaajids in Southern Africa. The areas and communities in which IDM operates experienced this auspicious occasion of Qurbani whilst sharing in the sacred rites and other aspects of this unique event in Islam through IDMs dawah and welfare programme.

*   NB:    This includes those who received a Qurbani meat parcel as well as all the family members who accompanied the parents for the Udhiya Programme, meal and occasion.

  

 4. TOTAL COST OF UDHIYA/QURBANI PROGRAMME:

IDM conducted a successful Udhiya/Qurbani programme in 2 countries in Southern Africa and 23   areas were covered in these regions.  The total number of animals purchased was 83 whilst the total    numbers of beneficiaries were 1,200.

  1. CONCLUSION:

          The IDM Udhiya/Qurbani Programme was conducted in disadvantaged areas of Southern

         Africa where poverty and unemployment levels are very high.

          Whilst the Udhiya Programme fulfills an injunction from Allah, it also has a tremendous dawah impact.
